About Us
Hahnemann Institute Sydney
The Hahnemann Institute Sydney began in 1983 as the New South Wales College of Homœopathy, before changing names to Hahnemann Institute of Homœopathy Sydney (1990), and finally, Hahnemann Institute Sydney (1994). Our aim is to promote, research, further develop, and teach all matters pertaining to orthodox (Gr. ορθόδοξος [orthodoxos] = upright, correct, proper) Homœopathy - simple aims which nonetheless demand a great degree of continued and especial focus on our literary heritage, especially during the early formative years (pre 1880), as well as a methodical application of Similia within the clinical situation (our team comprises practitioners who prescribe solely on the basis of Similia, and now using TBR as their only form of repertory) as a means of testing the ideas and insights uncovered during such literature research.
George Dimitriadis BSc (UNSW), DHom (Syd), DHomMCCH (Eng), MBöAG (Ger)
Founder and head of the Hahnemann Institute Sydney, George has been studying Homœopathy since 1977, and teaching since 1983, both in Australia and overseas, and contributed numerous articles to various professional journals. He is author of numerous professional books on Homœopathy, and most recently Editor TBR. George has spent many years researching and more recently teaching this method in Australia, New Zealand, and Japan, and his revealing findings have been published in a series of articles in Germany (ZKH) and the US (AJHM). George is a leading authority on this repertorial method of Bönninghausen, and has now used The Bönninghausen Repertory (TBR) exclusively in his practice since 1999.
Jacqualine Dimitriadis DNutr (NSW), DHomMCCH(Eng), GrDHom(Syd), MBöAG (Ger), MLiRG (HISyd)
Jacqualine completed the Graduate Diploma programme from the Hahnemann Institute in 1990, and from 1992-1995 served as Editor, Australian Journal of Homœopathic Medicine. Her contributions to the general profession include articles and book reviews published in various journals. Jacqualine’s input for our literature research and publications work has been invaluable, with a significant role in the restructuring and publication of TBR and most recently DHD. Jacqualine has also been practising using TBR exclusively since the few years.
Bernhard Deutinger DHom (ChC), MLiRG (HISyd), MATMS (Syd)
After completing his homœopathic undergraduate studies in Christchurch, New Zealand, Bernhard turned his attention to further research, and since 1998, has been an integral part of our research team. As a German native, his excellent command of the German coupled with a thorough knowledge of the English language, together with his conscientious attention to detail provide a most valuable contribution to our work. Thanks to the co-operation and support of various institutions and libraries, Bernhard has secured photocopies of numerous original manuscripts/texts during his not infrequent trips abroad, which works provide a basis for our continuing research and publication efforts. The unsurpassed accuracy of our (old) German to (modern) English translations, as evident in TBR, reflect in large measure Bernhard’s dedication and commitment to quality.
Philip Johnstone BA(Wits), ND(Syd), GrDHom(Syd), MLiRG (HISyd)
Following his homœopathic undergraduate studies in Sydney (1989), Philip went on to complete the Graduate Diploma programme with our Hahnemann Institute (1994). Since that time, Philip has been closely involved in many of our major projects, including TBR, and most recently DHD, for which he served as text editor. Originally from South Africa, Philip is charged with the task of collecting data on that country’s historical homœopathic progression through to the present day education and practices.
Greg Oosterbaan
After graduating in Sydney (1988), Greg returned to his birthplace in Hamilton, New Zealand, where he now lives and practises. An active HISydney member, Greg has contributed articles to ‘Homœopathy NewZ’ (Editor J.Winston), and has served a valuable role as critical text editor for our various publications, especially helping to render them more reader & user friendly.
Simon MATMS (Syd)
Originally trained and practiced in Berry (south of Sydney), Simon spent 3 years in Levin, New Zealand, where he continued to demonstrate the benefits of Homœopathy proper. Simon also enjoys a good reputation in the treatment of animals, his help having even been enlisted by the Wellington Zoo. Simon is our HISydney Webmaster.
